Las canciones son nuevamente una recopilación de los diversos discos sacados en el reino unido anteriormente con la base del A Hard Day's Night, en conjunto con su primer pelicula del mismo nombre.

La canción con la que comienza la película y que también la cierra, fue escrita por John Lennon casi por encargo. Richard Lester el director de la película decidió que la frase creada por Ringo fuera el título de la película, descartando otros como Beatlemania y On the run. Tan solo unos días despues estaban grabando una canción con el mismo título.
El acorde inicial es con toda probabilidad la parte más fácil de tocar en guitarra de cualquier canción de los Beatles. Simplemente dadle a todas las cuerdas a la vez y reconoceréis el sonido (en realidad el acorde está transpuesto y todas las cuerdas deberían estar presionadas en el tercer traste)
Esta canción fue compuesta principalmente por John Lennon pero Paul McCartney lo ayudó en los estribillos y en la estrofa del medio, dado que Lennon no alcanzaba la voz aguda como McCartney.

Una vez más, la voz de John se graba dos veces para conseguir el efecto mágico que se convertiría en su sello personal. La canción es una de las últimas en las que John tocó la armónica, uno de los sonidos más característicos de sus primeras canciones.
Esta canción aparece en la película la A Hard Day's Night mientras la banda esta en un vagón de tren (aunque en realidad viajaban en una camioneta para lograr el efecto de balanceo).

Una de las canciones más bellas que jamás escribiera John, con dos voces que alcanzan la perfección. La armonía en las canciones de los Beatles alcanza aquí un pico maravilloso. La canción fue grabada por John y Paul en un mismo micrófono a petición propia. John afirmó que la canción era autobiográfica, en una época en la que posteriormente reconoció haber querido dejar a Cynthia, su mujer. La canción era interpretada en la película mientras ensayaban para un programa de televisión.
Se publicó como el lado-B del sencillo "And I Love Her".

John escribió esta canción para George de manera que tuviera parte del protagonismo. De nuevo Ringo usa los bongos (y no cualquier bongo) para darle un ritmo especial.
Fue escrita específicamente para George Harrison para cantarla en un momento en el que carecía confianza para componer su propio material. Años más tarde, McCartney describió como una canción de "fórmula", y Lennon dijo: "Yo nunca he cantado por mí mismo."
Los Beatles grabaron "I'm Happy Just to Dance With You" en un domingo, y fue la primera vez que habían utilizado los estudios Abbey Road en el que no era un día normal de trabajo.
El grupo también grabó una versión para la BBC. La sesión tuvo lugar el 17 de julio de 1964 en el Estudio de París de la BBC en Londres, y fue transmitido el 3 de agosto de ese año.

Paul McCartney empezaba a producir obras maestras "McCartney". And I Love Her es sin duda alguna una gran canción, pero a los Beatles les costó un rato conseguir el sonido adecuado. Paul necesitó la ayuda de John para la parte intermedia de la canción. La versión final de la canción presenta 3 guitarras acústicas (una de ellas la toca George punteando el familiar tema del solo) y a Ringo en los bongos y la caja china. El sonido acústico de la canción se consiguió tras 3 días y un respetable número de tomas. Paul en una de ellas simplemente exclamó "ja, toma 50" aunque por supuesto no lo era.
Se publicó como sencillo en los Estados Unidos el 20 de julio de 1964, alcanzando el puesto #12 en el Billboard. El lado-B del sencillo era la canción "If I Fell".

Tell Me Why se completó en tan sólo 8 tomas el 27 de febrero de 1964 en el estudio. La canción es a tres voces, dos de las cuales son de John y la tercera de Paul. La razón más que probable por la que George no fue excluido de manera inusual en una canción a tres voces, es que la canción estaba muy alta de tono (la cantan haciendo falsetto) y quizás George no llegara.
Lennon dijo que la letra habla de los niños cuyos padres se separan (los padres de Lennon se separaron cuando él tenía 3 años).
"Tell Me Why" fue realizada en su película de debut, A Hard Day's Night. La canción fue parte de la ejecución de estudio que fue filmada en el Teatro de la Scala, Londres, el 31 de marzo de 1964. La voz de Lennon en la película difiere en cualquiera de las versiones de estudio mono o estéreo.
Paul McCartney dijo:"Creo que muchos de estas canciones como "Tell Me Why" se hayan basado en experiencias reales o los asuntos que John estaba teniendo con Cynthia (esposa de Lennon), o lo que sea, pero nunca se nos habia ocurrió hasta más tarde poner inclinación en todo".

La gran devoción de los Beatles a Little Richard se vió plasmada durante su carrera en numerosas ocasiones, especialmente en sus actuaciones en directo. Paul que era un gran imitador suyo, cantó no pocas veces versiones de Richard en los escenarios (Lennon también se atrevió en alguna ocasión aunque su voz era menos adecuada para ello). Long Tall Sally se grabó en una sola toma, y como en otras ocasiones captura a la perfección el sentimiento "en directo" de la versión (más frenética que la del propio Richard) en la que además de la voz de Paul brillan los, como siempre, efectivos solos de George Harrison.
Canción que no viene en los Lp's ingleses, y en el Second estado unidense pero en México lo publican aquí ya que en el anterior habían publicado el Can't Buy Me Love.

Tras finalizar la primera cara del LP A Hard Day's NIght, John y Paul tenían prisa para llenar la segunda. Ninguna de estas canciones aparecerían en la película, pero no podían dejar el LP con una sola cara. Any Time at All era la primera canción de esta cara.
John admitió más tarde que desarrolló la canción a partir de It Won't be Long, lo que se entiende siguiendo la secuencia de acordes.

Una melodía de estilo country (para aquellos que no se creen que los Beatles estaban influenciados por la música country) que en principio se pretendía que sirviera para la escena de la escalera de incendios. La canción se grabó en dos partes separadas, aunque en el mismo día, y luego fueron mezcladas juntas.

Things We Said Today fue escrita en un yate, en las islas Vírgenes, con Jane Asher (la novia de Paul en aquel tiempo) Ringo y Maureen.
Es bastente obvio que fue escrita con su guitarra acústica dado el comienzo de la canción. Se completó en tan sólo 3 tomas, incluyendo una falsa y las de superimposición de pistas. El piano no debía aparecer en un principio en la canción pero se coló el sonido a través de los micrófonos y por ello se escucha en el disco.
Things We Said Today es un single y canción del grupo inglés The Beatles, compuesta por Paul McCartney y lanzada el 10 de julio de 1964.
En las distintas giras del grupo, la canción era interpretada por Paul McCartney y George Harrison en voces y guitarras, John Lennon en guitarra, y Ringo Starr en batería.

La última canción del album en la que los prometen volver incluso si se les rompe el corazón, fue compuesta por John. Parece ser que los acordes le surgieron cuando tocaba una canción de Del Shannon. Shannon grabó una versión de From Me To You que tan solo alcanzó el puesto 77 en las listas de los USA. El tema es de nuevo un acústico delicioso típico de los Beatles del 64.
