Posteriormente con EMI Capitol vuelve a retomar este álbum con las mezclas en Estereo y con otra portada, la cual se había visto en el mercado Estado Unidense en el Lp Beatles 65, pero nuevamente la variante es que los titulos de las canciones vienen en español, aquí EMI saca la etiqueta de color verde, la contraportada de este muestra cinco fotografías una de cada uno y otra de la banda.

The Beatles' Second Album titulo original en los EUA, llegó al número uno en el Billboard Hot 100 en Estados Unidos, relevando a Meet the Beatles! del primer puesto. Era la primera vez que un artista se substituía a sí mismo con un álbum en el número uno del Billboard.
A diferencia de los discos británicos del grupo, The Beatles Vol. 2 esta compuesto exclusivamente de canciones de ritmo rápido. El album se mantiene quizás como el mejor álbum de puro rock and roll que se haya editado jamás de toda la música del grupo.
En 2004, este álbum fue lanzado de nuevo por primera vez en CD como parte integrante de la colección The Capitol Albums Vol. 1 (que incluía también los LP Meet the Beatles!, Something New y Beatles '65).

Alcanzó el primer número 1 para los Beatles (o el número 2, según la lista) La canción que John escrbió en su casa de Menlow Avenue, era en origen más lenta. Una de las canciones más famosas de los Beatles... aunque no es suya. Tras haber estado grabando más de 10 horas, los Beatles aun tenían algo de tiempo así que decidieron grabar su habitual canción para acabar un concierto. Se hicieron DOS tomas de la canción, pero la buena fue la primera (como no podía ser de otra manera). John había estado tomando pastillas para la garganta todo el día, y cuando llegó al Twist and Shout sabía que su maltratada voz solo podría intentarlo una vez. El resultado, una voz rota y desgarrada a lo largo de la canción que movió los cimientos de la música moderna. John escribió esta canción cuando vivía con su reciente esposa Cynthia en el piso que Brian Epstein les dejó. Supuestamente el secreto sería que se había dado cuenta que estaba enamorado. La demo de la canción fue grabada por John mientras estaba sentado en el lavabo. De ahi que en dicha grabación se escuche al final como John tira de la cadena. Fue la primera canción en el disco en la que cantaba George la voz solista. El tema fue más tarde llevado al número 1 por Billy J.Kramer y los Dakotas en las listas británicas.
